Salvia officinalis
Soft grey-green leaves with a sharp, savory aroma โ long used as a kitchen and gargle herb.
Traditional use
Strong sage tea is gargled for sore throats and mouth ulcers; a milder cup is sipped for hot flashes and heavy sweating.
How to prepare
1 tbsp fresh or 1 tsp dried leaves, cup of just-boiled water, steep 8 minutes, cool slightly. Gargle, then sip.
Safety notes
Avoid prolonged use in pregnancy and while breastfeeding (can reduce milk supply). Skip medicinal doses with seizure disorders.
